TAPE-IN MAINTENANCE

HOW LONG DO TAPE-INS STAY IN BEFORE A RE-TAPE?

6-8 weeks — regular re-tapes keep them secure and looking fresh.

TYPICAL RE-TAPE SCHEDULE

Tape-in extensions need re-taping every 6-8 weeks. As your natural hair grows, the taped panels grow down away from your scalp and need fresh adhesive.

This isn't full replacement — it's maintenance. The same extension hair is reused with new tape tabs, so you're not buying new hair every time.

Think of re-tapes like regular maintenance appointments. They keep everything secure, flat, and looking salon-fresh.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A RE-TAPE

The old tape is removed using a gentle adhesive remover solution. The panels separate easily without pulling or damaging your natural hair.

Your natural hair is cleansed to remove any residue. The extension hair is also cleaned and prepped for fresh tape.

New tape tabs are applied to the panels. Fresh adhesive ensures they stay secure for another 6-8 weeks.

The panels are reinstalled in the same positions, sandwiching small sections of your natural hair between them. The hair is styled and blended, and you're done.

The entire process takes 1-2 hours — much faster than the initial installation since the hair is already prepared.

WHY TIMING MATTERS

Prevents slipping. As the adhesive ages and your hair grows, panels can start to loosen. Regular re-tapes keep everything secure.

Maintains invisibility. When panels grow too far down, they become more visible and can feel uncomfortable. Staying on schedule keeps them hidden.

Protects your natural hair. Loose panels can tangle and mat if left too long. Regular maintenance prevents damage and keeps your natural hair healthy.

Extends hair lifespan. Proper maintenance means the extension hair lasts longer — typically 6-8 months or more before needing replacement.

SIGNS IT'S TIME FOR A RE-TAPE

It's been 6-8 weeks since your last appointment. Even if they still feel secure, staying on schedule prevents issues.

You can feel the panels when you touch mid-length — they've grown noticeably down from where they started.

Any panels feel loose or like they're slipping. Don't wait — reach out immediately to prevent complete slipping or tangling.

The hair is tangling more easily near the taped areas, even with regular brushing and care.
