CAN I SLEEP, SHOWER, AND SWIM WITH EXTENSIONS?

Yes! Hair extensions are designed to be part of your daily life.

SLEEPING

You can absolutely sleep with hair extensions. Most people don't need to change anything about their sleep routine.

If you have longer extensions or move around a lot at night, a loose braid or low ponytail can help prevent tangling. This is optional — many clients sleep with their hair down without any issues.

All three extension methods (keratin bond, hand-sewn weft, and tape-in) are secure enough for normal sleep.

SHOWERING

Hair extensions can get wet. You wash them just like your natural hair.

The main difference: be gentle at the roots where the extensions are attached. Avoid harsh scrubbing or vigorous rubbing right at the bonds, beads, or tape. Wash the length of your hair normally.

For tape-in extensions specifically, wait 48 hours after your initial installation before washing. After that, shower normally.

Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. This helps the extensions (and your natural hair) stay healthy longer.

SWIMMING

You can swim with hair extensions, but a few precautions help them last longer.

Before swimming: Wet your hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner. This creates a barrier that reduces chlorine or salt absorption.

During swimming: Braid your hair or tie it up to minimize tangling. The extensions themselves are waterproof — it's tangling that causes problems.

After swimming: Rinse immediately with fresh water. Shampoo and condition as soon as possible to remove chlorine or salt.

If you swim frequently (multiple times per week), mention this during your consultation. We can discuss methods and care that work best for regular swimmers.
