HAND-TIED MAINTENANCE

HOW LONG DO WEFTS LAST BEFORE A MOVE-UP?

6-8 weeks — regular move-ups keep them looking fresh and prevent damage.

TYPICAL MOVE-UP SCHEDULE

Hand-tied wefts need move-ups every 6-8 weeks. As your natural hair grows, the beaded rows grow down away from your scalp, and the wefts need to be repositioned.

This isn't removal and replacement — it's repositioning. The same hair is reused, the beads are moved back up to your scalp, and the wefts are re-sewn securely.

Think of move-ups like root touch-ups for color. Regular appointments keep everything looking fresh and prevent issues before they start.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A MOVE-UP

The wefts are carefully unsewn from the beaded rows. The extension hair is set aside — it's not being replaced.

The beads are slid back up to your scalp to account for your natural hair growth. This brings the rows back to their original position.

The wefts are re-sewn onto the beaded rows. The hair is styled and blended, and you leave looking salon-fresh.

The entire process takes 1-2 hours — much faster than the initial installation since the hair is already prepped and ready.

✦

WHY TIMING MATTERS

Prevents tangling. As the rows grow down, hair can tangle at the wefts more easily. Staying on schedule keeps things manageable.

Maintains security. When rows grow too far from the scalp, they can start to shift or loosen. Move-ups keep everything tight and secure.

Protects your natural hair. Waiting too long puts stress on your natural hair as the weight shifts to the wrong areas. Regular move-ups distribute weight properly.

Extends hair lifespan. Proper maintenance means the extension hair lasts longer — often a year or more with good care.

SIGNS IT'S TIME FOR A MOVE-UP

It's been 6-8 weeks since your last appointment. Even if everything looks fine, staying on schedule prevents problems.

You can feel the rows when you touch your scalp — they've grown down noticeably from where they started.

The hair is tangling more easily, especially near the wefts, even with regular brushing.

You notice any looseness or shifting in the rows. Don't wait — reach out immediately to prevent slipping.
